The 2020 Section VI Football Alignments have just been released by Section VI.
A few things to note (per Ken Stoldt, Section VI Football Chairman)…
Class AA is an 8-team division. Class A has 16 teams so they have two 8-team divisions. As it currently stands, each of those three divisions will have one team in their division they don’t play – they will all have six league games and one non-league.
Section VI has submitted a waiver request that would allow teams in those divisions to play an 11th game should they advance to the Sectional Championships. If that waiver is approved, Section VI would be able to begin the regular season during the current scrimmage week so that the Class AA and A division teams would have the opportunity to play everyone in their division before sectional playoffs.
Class B has dropped to 14 teams so there are two divisions of seven. Class C has grown to 18 so there are three divisions of six teams.
Class D has six teams. They will play an 8-week season. The top four teams will play a semi-final in Week 9 to see who advances to the stadium. The 5th and 6th place finishers will play in the Funke Championship.
The divisional alignments will be as follows:
