The Academe of Aurora hosted Christian Central Academy today at the Buffalo Niagara Court Center. This would be a rematch from last year’s semifinals. Today, The Academe coasted to a 25-14, 25-10, 25-9 victory.
Academe had strong contributions from everyone on the team. Setter Abby Kubiak had 21 assists, 3 aces and 2 kills. Anna Updike 7 kills, 6 aces, and two assists. Anna Kubiak posted a season high 13 kills, along with her 9 aces and 1 block.
When asked about the play of his young squad, Coach Madia responded with “I really like the direction the girls have taken. We had a tough week last week, and a rough practice yesterday. The girls did a great job of picking themselves up by their bootstraps and pushed through. The leadership on the team has been here a while, and know what it takes to get the job done in this league. They’ve done a great job of setting the example for the younger players, which has made it very easy for the little ones to follow in the footsteps.”
The Academe will be visiting Amherst Christian Academy on Thursday (9/15) before hosting last year’s finalist Lighthouse Baptist on Friday (9/16).
