The tide is turning in Fed hockey… teams that had been struggling the past few years are now beating teams that were dominating.
Billies Pick Up 4th Win of Season
The Williamsville South Billies (4-2-1) have themselves a winning streak. The Billies rallied from a 3-2 deficit in the third period to defeat Starpoint 4-3 in overtime Wednesday at Hockey Outlet.
CJ Wehr turned out to be the hero for Will South when he scored with just over a minute to play in overtime.
Liam Wicks scored two goals for Will South while Jayce Faso stopped 26 shots in the win. Daniel Weiss also scored for the Billies, his 2nd goal of the season.
The Trojans and Billies were tied 2-2 heading into the 1st intermission. Ryan Kelly’s 2nd period goal broke the tie giving Starpoint a 3-2 lead. Wicks’ second goal of the game came with just 3:27 left to play in regulation.
Justin Bull and Blake Dewey also scored for Starpoint. AJ White stopped 18 shots for the Trojans.
The Billies will take on West Seneca East this Friday at the West Seneca Town Rink. Starpoint will take on Section V’s Gates Chili this Saturday in a non-leaguer (Hockey Outlet).

Wagner Stops 30 in NT Win over WSW
We’ve mentioned Alex Wagner’s name before and if you weren’t paying attention then, you should be now. The Lumberjacks senior goaltender turned in another great performance Wednesday night when he turned away 30 shots in North Tonawanda’s 2-0 win over West Seneca West at Hockey Outlet.
Evan Becigneul’s first period goal proved to be all the Lumberjacks would need as Wagner would go on to make one big save after another. Ryan McAvoy added an empty netter giving him five goals on the season.
North Tonawanda (2-2-1) will be back in action Saturday when they face Sweet Home (0-0-1) at Northtown Center.
Griffin McAndrews stopped 16 shots for West Seneca West (2-2-2). The Indians will be play at home on Friday against Lew-Port.
