Recapping This Weekend’s Games
Lockport-Niagara Falls 6, North Tonawanda 3
L-NF jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mike Ranieri and Ciaran Hall. NT’s Nolan Horn scored at the 3:36 mark (assisted by Josh Elinski) only to have L-NF’s James Robinson net their 3rd goal less than a minute later.
Two minutes into the 2nd period, Mike Ranieri netted what would prove to be the game winner (assisted by Drew Merino and Owen Fogle).
Mike Ranieri would finish with a hat-trick; Max Hertel (2) and James Robinson (1) also scored for L-NF.
Nolan Horn (2) and Jakob Lyons scored for NT.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 30th: L-NF will square off with Williamsville East, NT will take on Starpoint.
Kenmore West 2, Greece-Arcadia 6
After a scoreless 1st period, Ken West jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of power play goals from Cam Crosier (first goal was assisted by Michael Barker and Ethan Yotter).
In what became a chippy game, Ken West was slapped with a 5-minute major that would last through the remaining time in the period. Greece-Arcadia used this opportunity to go on a 4-goal scoring spree in two minutes, taking a 4-2 lead into the 2nd intermission.
Greece-Arcadia would add two goals in the 3rd period to close out the 6-2 win.
Ken West will take on Timon this evening at Harbor Center (6pm puck drop).
Canisius 7, Niagara Wheatfield 1
The Falcons were able to hold off the Crusader offense during the first period but struggled in doing so during the 2nd. Canisius, after a spark from Jaden Riley’s short-handed goal (assisted by Spencer DiLeo and Sammy Nichols), settled into a groove and would put up another trio of unanswered goals to close out the second period.
Anthony Delisanti (assisted by Joel Hocking and Chris Caccitore) were able to get their Falcons on the board with 3:09 left in the game. Canisius’ Mike Lafferty and Jaden Riley added a goal each during the final minute.
Jaden Riley, Connor Long and Dan Tocco each tallied a pair of goals for Canisius; Mike Lafferty finished with one goal.
Niagara Wheatfield will take on Lancaster this evening up at Hyde Park; Canisius is off until Friday when they will face off with Clarence.
St. Joe’s 5, Lancaster 0
The Marauders blanked the Legends in their first contests of the regular season. Connor McKendry (assisted by William Redding and William Gehen) scored a little less than five minutes into the game.
Kyle Schneider followed that up with a Power Play Goal (assisted by Frank Attea and Matthew Orlowski) less than a minute later.
Matthew Barrali (2) and William Redding (1) also scored for the Marauders in their 5-0 win.
St. Joe’s is off until Monday, December 3rd when they’ll take on Clarence. Lancaster will be heading up to Hyde Park to take on Niagara Wheatfield later this evening.
Timon 5, Hamburg 0
Fergus Gould (assisted by Ben Juliano) kicked off the scoring for Timon a little over 4 minutes into the game; the Tigers would carry that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The second period saw a short-handed goal from Jake Blidy, an even strength goal from Sean McCarthy and a Power Play goal from Hayden Sawynsky.
Sean McCarthy tacked on his second goal of the evening as the game was winding down to close out the 5-0 win. John Glascoe tallied a trio of assists in the game.
Timon will take on Kenmore West later this evening at 6pm (Harbor Center); Hamburg’s next game is also against Kenmore West, although they won’t see each other until Friday, November 30th.
