Boys Fed Hockey Roundup – Saturday, January 5th

Yesterday’s games

Grand Island 3, Kenmore West 2 (OT)

The Vikings scored two shorthanded goals to beat Division II’s top dog.

Tyler Hunt capitalized on a shorthanded breakaway for the game-winner in overtime.

Dylan Russo and Brian O’Neill both scored for GI in the first period.

The Blue Devils fought back in the second and third periods. Ethan Yotter netted a goal in the second and Jacob Vacanti scored the other for Ken-West to tie the game with 11:23 left in the third.

GI’s Nathan Stroh made 27 saves to pick up the win.

Cam Crosier assisted on both Blue Devils goals.

Lewiston-Porter 8, Amherst 1

Peter Spameni scored five goals (three on the power play, one shorthanded) as the Lancers downed Amherst for their second win in a row.

Jack Dunn, Jack Evert and Joey Zachary rounded out the scoring for Lew-Port.

Tyler Stevenson stopped 27 shots in the win.

Adam Willig scored the lone Amherst goal.

West Seneca East 5, Iroquois-Alden 0

Hunter Kashuba netted a pair of goals as the Trojans picked up their third win of the season.

Dan Boyle, Noah Bily and Colin Schmatz scored the other WSE goals.

Sweet Home 1, North Tonawanda 1 (OT)

56 minutes wasn’t enough as the Panthers and Lumberjacks finished in a 1-1 tie.

NT’s Nolan Horn and Sweet Home’s Cameron Coogan scored the game’s two goals.

Alex Wagner made 42 saves for the Lumberjacks, while his counterpart Michael Lisman stopped 36 shots.

West Seneca West 3, Starpoint 3 (OT)

The Spartans got on the board just 12 seconds into the game and led 3-2 after the first intermission but the Indians came back to tie the game.

Brenden Dewey scored Starpoint’s first goal. Mike Jozwiak and Chuck Schmidl netted goals just over a minute apart in the second period.

Ethan Parsons, Billy Coughlin and Grady O’Hara scored the West Seneca West goals.

Today’s games

St. Joe’s vs. Clarence 1:00 p.m. Northtown Center

The Marauders will look to avenge their lone blemish on this season, a 1-1 tie to Clarence on Dec. 3rd. St. Joe’s went 2-1 at the Mount St. Charles Holiday Faceoff in Rhode Island over the break. The Red Devils are on a three-game winning streak, capped off with a 3-2 overtime win over Orchard Park last Sunday.

Bishop Timon vs. Sweet Home 3:15 p.m. Northtown Center

The Tigers come into the New Year on a three-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 18-4 in that span. The Panthers haven’t won since Dec. 14th.

Iroquois-Alden vs. Williamsville East 4:45 p.m. Northtown Center

The two teams have gone in opposite directions since their first meeting on Dec. 20th, an 11-2 Will East win. The Flames have won three of the last four games since then while Iroquois-Alden has dropped four of their last five games.

Lew-Port vs. Starpoint 7:40 p.m. Cornerstone Arena

The Lancers are on a two-game winning streak heading in their game after beating North Tonawanda and Amherst. The Spartans have picked up some steam lately getting at least a point in their last three league games.
