Yesterday’s games:
Clarence 4, Frontier 1
The Red Devils took a four-goal lead and never looked back, picking up their third win of the season.
Isaiah Corry, Brady Carlson, Maxx Kempton and Aiden McCarthy all scored for Clarence.
Kyle Jarosz netted the only Falcon goal.
Niagara Wheatfield 3, Williamsville North 1
It’s not often that giving up five goals in a period inspires a three-game winning streak.
But for the Niagara Wheatfield Falcons, that’s exactly been the case.
Last Friday, the Falcons allowed five goals in a four-minute stretch of the second period of their game against Williamsville North.
In the following 10 periods, Niagara Wheatfield has outscored their opponents 12-1.
Saturday, the Falcons were able to return the favor to the Spartans.
“I think once it was 5-0 in (the first Will North game) we had nothing to lose,” said Cam King, who had two goals in Saturday’s win. “We came out in the third with everything we got and we realized we could hang with anybody. We’ve just kept playing like that since.”
King, who only had two assists last season, already has five goals and two assists in 2018-19.
“He stepped up today,” N-W coach Rick Wrazin said of King. “His speed is hard for anyone to match. He’s playing great hockey. When someone steps up the other guys usually follow. When that happens, we’re going to be a dangerous team.”
Chris Caccitore found King for his first goal as he skated away on a breakaway with 12:25 left in the second period.
King found the back of the net a few minutes later courtesy of a Caleb Lee pass on the power play.
The Spartans quickly got back into the game in the third as Jeff Cummins knocked the puck in just 12 seconds into play.
However, Will North failed to get any more offense going the rest of the game.
Anthony Delisanti scored the empty net goal for N-W with 16 seconds left.
Lancaster 4, Orchard Park 2
The Legends had a 2-1 lead at the first intermission and held on to snap their three-game losing skid.
Ethan Jurkowski, Jon Czechowski, Max Richter and Riley Dirschberger all scored for Lancaster.
Ryan Licursi netted both Quaker goals.
In net, Dean Hahn made 27 saves for the Legends.
West Seneca West 7, Sweet Home 0
Kyle Haettich and Billy Coughlin scored two goals each as the Indians got revenge on the Panthers.
The two teams played a scoreless period and a half periods before Haettich netted one with 6:15 left in the second. West went on to score six more goals in the third period.
Chase Chodkowski, Michael Flury and Ryan Mathews also found the back of the net.
Kenmore West 10, Lockport-Niagara Falls 1
Jacob Vacanti had two goals and four assists as the Blue Devils put together their third-straight double-digit goal game.
Cam Crosier finished with a pair of goals as Luke Bailey, Danny Rulov, Dylan Speck, Michael Barker, Colin Thomas and Jacob Cichocki also scored for Ken West.
Mike Ranieri netted the lone Lockport-Niagara Falls goal.
Kenmore East 2, Lew-Port 0
The Bulldogs picked up their second-straight win and improved to six points going into the Holiday.
Aidan Bova gave Ken East the lead with 5:22 left in the first period. Dominic Cassillo netted the second goal with eight minutes left in the second.
Anthony Kowalski came up with the 16-save shutout for the Bulldogs.
St. Francis 8, Williamsville South 2
Pierce Greene had four points as the Red Raiders extended their unbeaten streak to six games.
Alec Dobinski, Ryan Fitch, Connor Yuhas, Matt Murphy, Jacob Donaldson and Matt Bowen also scored for St. Francis.
Danny Berke netted the two Billies’ goals.
