St. Joe’s 3, Clarence 2
The Red Devils gave St. Joe’s another scare taking a 2-0 lead early in the second period.
Unlike their first meeting, the Marauders were able to come back, scoring three goals to secure the win.
Tristan Weigand and Mitch Floccare each had a goal and an assist for St. Joe’s. Joe Tobia scored the other Marauder goal.
Trevor Arno and Nicholas Modeas netted the two Clarence goals.
Bishop Timon 5, Sweet Home 1
After giving up the first goal of the game, the Tigers responded with a four-goal second period en route to their fourth-straight victory.
Sean McCarthy netted a pair of goals. John Glascoe and Fergus Gould each had three assists.
Jake Blidy, Tom English and Michael Sands also scored for Timon.
Collin Coogan netted the lone Panther goal.
Starpoint 7, Lew-Port 4
Carmelo Martorana and Max Ciepiela scored two goals each as the Spartans bested the Lancers to continue their point-streak to four games.
The two teams went back and forth until Tommy Mazgaj and Brenden Dewey scored just 41 seconds apart to give Starpoint a 4-2 lead at the first intermission.
Lew-Port’s Lucas Eoute netted two goals in the second period. Eoute’s second goal, which came with 4:31 left in the period cut the deficit to 5-4 for the Lancers.
However, the Spartans regained their two-goal before the buzzer as Joe LoBrutto found the back of the net with 21 seconds left in the period.
Joey Zachary and Markus Johansson scored the other two Lew-Port goals.
Starpoint’s A.J. White stopped 19 of 23 shots, his counterpart Andrew Hanna made 46 saves.
Today’s Games
North Tonawanda vs. Hamburg 1 p.m. Buffalo State College
The Lumberjacks are coming off a hard-fought tie against Sweet Home Friday. This will be the Bulldogs’ first game of the New Year, they’re coming off a 4-4 tie to Lew-Port on Dec. 28th. Hamburg is tied for fourth place in Division II with Williamsville East.
Grand Island vs. West Seneca East 3:15 p.m. Buffalo State College
The Vikings are coming off a thrilling overtime victory over Division II leading Kenmore West on Friday. The Trojans come into this game on a four-game unbeaten streak, capped off by a 5-0 win over Iroquois-Alden on Friday.
Niagara Wheatfield vs. St. Joe’s 4:00 p.m. HarborCenter
It’s the first time the top Catholic school team will face the top Large public school team this year. The Marauders are 8-0-1 in league play this year. The Falcons enter the New Year winning four straight.
Amherst vs. Iroquois-Alden 6:15 p.m. HarborCenter
Iroquois-Alden will be looking to get back on track entering this tilt after losing four of their last five league games. Amherst has yet to win this season.
West Seneca West vs. Kenmore West 8:30 p.m. HarborCenter
It’s a long-awaited matchup between the top two teams in Division II. The Blue Devils have been in the top spot for pretty much the entire season with an offense that averages nearly seven goals a game. The Indians began to separate themselves from Hamburg and Iroquois-Alden a few weeks ago to take sole control of the second spot in the division.
