The Clymer/Sherman/Panama Wolfpack football team have been an unbeatable bunch this season and were not about to change their winning ways Friday afternoon at New Era Field in Orchard Park. A Class D championship was at stake.
In the way was Maple Grove, a team they had beaten twice in the regular season. The Wolfpack defense smothered the Red Dragons offense for much of the game propelling CSP to a 35-7 victory.
Coach Ty Harper was hired to lead the merged schools four years ago and under his leadership they have taken a step closer to the title game in each of the previous years. It was Maple Grove that continued to torment Harper’s Wolfpack. On Friday afternoon, CSP was able to overcome that obstascle in convincing fashion.
The Wolfpack built an early 13-0 lead off the strength of a Gerrit Hinsdale one-yard TD run and a Cam Barmore 46-yard TD pass.
Maple Grove would score a short yardage touchdown run of their own late in the first half to cut their deficit 13-7. Easton Tanner set things up for the Red Dragons picking up a 3rd and 6 from the CSP seven-yard line to give his team a fresh set of downs. A play later Carson Crist found the end zone.

Maple Grove received the second half kick-off but CSP’s Michael Beatman picked off a Crist pass, giving the Wolfpack solid field position. It was the second interception for CSP of the game.
For much of the second half the Wolfpack defense continued to pressure the Maple Grove offense and only gave up 70 yards of total offense.
CSP scored 21 points off of five turnovers.
Hinsdale threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns, both to Barmore. Ecklund had 22 carries for 143 yards and a touchdown.
