Day Joins Chiefs’ 200 Win Club

On Wednesday, December 5th Iroquois senior Cory Day became the latest wrestler in program history to record his 200th career victory. Cory joins older brother Connor and Iroquois assistant wrestling coach Jimmy Kloc as the third Chief to reach the milestone.

Day earned his 200th in a non-league dual against West Seneca West at home. Ironically, Day didn’t even have to wrestle to earn the win; he received a forfeit.

“It means a lot to not only me but my family and coaches also” Day said on achieving 200 wins. “Through all of the hard work that I’ve put in through all these years it’s a simple milestone reminding me that hard work does pay off.”

Day is the defending Section VI Div. II 145-pound champion and took 4th in NYS last season. Now as a senior wrestling 160/170 pounds he’ll be looking to make a final run at a state championship in February. He’s been in the Chief lineup since 7th grade.

On the 200-win milestone Day added “We’ve had many very good wrestlers in the past few years and a lot of very good wrestlers on the rise that will not surprise me if they do something more special than anyone has ever done at Iroquois.”

Kloc, a two-time NYS champion, holds the program record with 254 career victories.
