Newfane Wrestling capped off another unbeaten season in Niagara-Orleans duals on Friday with a 48-30 over Barker/Royalton-Hartland at home to capture the program’s tenth straight N-O title while improving to 50-0 against league rivals in that time. Including the spring 2021 'covid' season, the Panthers are 55-0 and have won 11 straight N-O titles in that time.
The Panthers cruised to the win over the Raider-Rams on Friday behind wins by Jaxson Tocco (101-pounds), Rian Czaja (108), JJ Lucinski (116), Sean Milczarski (138), Aidan Gillings (145), Richard Doxey (170), Collin Doxey (180), and Ty Mangione (215).
With a 30-30 tie going into the last three weights against B/R-H, the Doxey brothers and Ty Mangione all picked up pins to help seal the Panthers’ 11th straight N-O with a statement.
Dan Moore (285), Joe Jopp (124), Luke Fay (131), Joel Hickman (152), and Ronan Klug (160) all won head to head bouts for Barker/Royalton-Hartland against Newfane.
In the first league dual of the season for both teams on Dec. 13th, the Panthers were pushed by Medina but ultimately won by a close five point margin. In that dual, the Mustangs won seven weights to six for Newfane, however all of Newfane’s wins came by way of pin or forfeit accounting for six team points each compared to only three, six point matches for Medina. A forfeit to Sean Milczarski and pins by returning state place winners Aidan Gillings and Ayden Buttery sealed the come from behind win for Newfane against the Mustangs.
