Dunkirk Boys Varsity Soccer Suspended Due to Positive Covid-19 Test

We have been informed by the Chautauqua County Department of Health that our Boys Varsity Soccer has been placed in 14-day quarantine due to a COVID-19 positive test result. As of this release, we will be cancelling Boys Varsity Soccer games thru Wednesday, October 28th . Dunkirk Senior High School has been on a totally remote schedule therefore the students/athletes involved have only been on campus for practices/games. The health and safety of our student/athletes is our primary concern. Any further information would be from the Chautauqua County Dept. of Health. Director of Athletics Al Gens

Sunday evening word started to spread across the southern tier that the Dunkirk boys varsity soccer team would be shut down until at least October 28th due to positive Covid-19 case.

Timm Slade, the executive director for Section VI confirmed the news to WNYAthletics in a text message late Sunday evening.

The Marauders had a match last Friday at Allegany-Limestone and were scheduled to host Jamestown on Monday. Gators head coach Jon Luce was aware of the positive test, in a text message he said that he had not spoken with anyone from Dunkirk yet.

Attempts to reach Dunkirk athletic director Al Gens and head soccer coach EJ Hayes were unsuccessful.
