The WNY #2 small school Falconer/Cassadaga Valley wrestling team claimed its 11th consecutive CCAA I title on Friday with a 42-25 win at fellow WNY top ten squad and league rival Southwestern. The win for the Golden Cougars secured the program’s 11th league title and 10th outright title since the 2011-2012 season while extending their own league win streak to 42 consecutive CCAA I victories dating back to the 2014-2015 season. With only one league loss in the last eleven seasons (2014-2015 vs. Chautauqua Lake), the Golden Cougars have amassed a league win record of 66-1 in that same time.
So far this season, Falconer/CV boasts a 6-0 final CCAA Div. I record and a current dual record of 15-3 overall. After a runner-up finish in the Section VI Division II Duals, Falconer is still hopeful for a wildcard invitation to the 2022 NYSPHSAA Wrestling Dual Meet Championships next weekend in Syracuse. The last time the Golden Cougars were at SRC Arena in February 2020 they came home with the NYS Division II Dual Meet state championship.
