Sectionals Outlook
Class A
Williamsville North controls their destiny for the #1 seed in Sectionals. Clarence doesn’t have enough games to catch the Lady Spartans in Power Points, but an ill-timed loss could give the Red Devils just enough of a window to take 1st place.
Lancaster can clinch 3rd place with 3 wins in their last 4 games, but to do so they’ll need to go through Williamsville North (#1) and Clarence (#2). Orchard Park is within striking distance for 3rd place. However, playing two class B teams limits the ground they can recover in the standings.
Although still too early to say for sure, the Lancaster and Orchard Park game on October 15th could determine who gets the #3 seed in the end.
Class B
Iroquois still sits atop Class B with a 2.75 Power Rating. Statistically speaking, in order for Williamsville East or Williamsville South to grab the #1 seed, they must win-out their seasons and Iroquois must drop at least two of their remaining games.
Both teams will square off with Iroquois in the last week of the season. If the Chiefs slip up tonight against Pioneer it could open the door for a Williamsville team to slip past Iroquois in the standings just in time for playoffs.
A Pioneer win tonight would also tighten the race for 2nd/3rd place. As it stands right now, the Panthers are only trailing the Williamsville teams by a single game each.
Class C
The #1 seed in Class C will more than likely come down to the Roy-Hart @ Barker game on October 16th. Both teams are 8-1 in league and have been in a neck-and-neck race ever since the first game. Barker won the first contest 2-1.
Akron only has two league games remaining and currently sits at 3rd place in Class C. However, a Medina win tonight moves them within 0.3 power points of Akron. Medina will host the Lady Tigers on Thursday, October 11th in a game that will may determine who gets the 3rd seed heading into playoffs.
You’ll need to keep an eye on Eden, however, as they play in ECIC and play higher class teams in their regular season schedule. These extra Power Points could be enough to catapult them to the top of Class C if they go on a late-season winning streak.
