Injuries Force O’Hara to Forfeit Saturday’s Game vs Binghamton

The Cardinal O’Hara football team had to forfeit their latest game Saturday versus a team from Section IV according to a social media post that morning.

According to head coach Shaq Dudley the determining factor was injuries. “We had a number of guys that would not be healthy enough and we made a team decision.”

It’s been a tough 2019 already for the Hawks who are coming off one of the best seasons in school history, one in which they won the Monsignor Martin Small School championship.

Early this fall there were some concerns with numbers in the program and the Hawks ultimately had to forfeit their week one game against Bishop Ireton of Alexandria, VA. Not enough players had met the eligibility requirements, forcing the team to have to forfeit.

Dudley admitted that it was a difficult phone call to make yesterday but “I did what I felt was right for our kids.”

The Hawks next game is Saturday against St. Mary’s of Lancaster and it is Cardinal O’Hara’s homecoming weekend.

O’Hara has played two games thus far losing both contests by a combined score of 86-0.

They do have one of the best lineman in WNY in junior Sam Torrie, who has been one of the bright spots for the Hawks.
