St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute

Full Press Release

(Buffalo, NY—November 8, 2017) St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute is proud to announce that senior Joshua Costolnick has officially signed his commitment letter to attend Syracuse University in the fall of 2018, joining the university’s NCAA Division 1 Rowing Team.

“As a member of the St. Joe’s rowing program, I’ve trained 6 days a week for at least 20 hours each week,” said Josh. “I feel prepared for the hard work ahead and am really looking forward to competing with some of the best of the best at Syracuse.”

Josh has participated in the St. Joe’s rowing program for the last four years, and his coaches are very pleased with his decision. Both Head Coach Tom Heubusch and Novice Coach Matt Cosman are rowing alumni for the Syracuse Orange.

“Josh has worked incredibly hard for 4 years, but he definitely has talent that hasn’t been tapped into yet as both a rower and an athlete,” said Heubusch. “The coaching staff at Syracuse recruits top talent, but they also care deeply about the rowers as individuals and are committed to the development of the program’s young athletes.”

A resident of Grand Island, Josh is planning to study Corporate Entrepreneurship with minors in International Business and Communications.
