Ken-East Baseball Seniors Receive Honor

Staff Reports

Kenmore East baseball seniors Dylan Creasey, Dominic Germano, Ryan Williams and Tyler Horn all received the Robert Marafino scholarship.

Robert Marafino was the school’s very first varsity baseball coach. As the head coach he lead the team to 25 straight winning seasons, including six Section VI championships and seven Niagara Frontier League titles. Marafino was inducted into the Kenmore East Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.

The scholarship was awarded to the seniors at the Kenmore East Athletic Awards Night. Head Coach Les Simon, who was joined by the family of Marafino (grandson Peter Castiglia, daughters Mary Castiglia (Marafino), Anne Hoar (Marafino) and son John Hoar), presented the scholarships.

“All 4 of these boys embodied the values of desire, a love for Kenmore East baseball, and sportsmanship, Coach Marafino would have been proud of this years selections,” Simon said.
