The Lake Shore Eagles picked up their second straight, and third sectional title in four years as they defeated the West Seneca East Trojans 16-9 on Wednesday night.
The Trojans came out fast scoring the game’s first two goals, but the Eagles came back with four straight goals.
Junior captain Jalyn Jimerson found senior Sophia Koenig streaking down the field for a breakaway goal to put the Eagles on the board. That was followed up by goals from Ivy Santana and Jimerson. Koenig found the back of the net again.
West Seneca East ended the run with a goal from captain Grace Vogel. The Eagles and Trojans each got one more goal at the end of the half, as Lake Shore led 5-4.
The Eagles picked up where they left off in the second with five straight to take a commanding 10-4 lead and they never looked back.
For the Trojans, Vogel led the way with four goals. Junior Maddie Brzezicki had two goals and an assist.
Lake Shore was led by Koenig who scored five goals and also added an assist. Shayla Scanlan had four goals and an assist. Jimerson ended with two goals and two assists.
The Eagles will play in Saturday’s Far West Regionals at All-High Stadium. Faceoff 12 p.m. against the Section V champion.
