The Lockport Lions took advantage of an explosive offense to down the Kenmore East Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon 11-0.
Seizing upon the momentum provided to them after the Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker to the Kenmore West Blue Devils less than an hour before, the Lions garnered a quick lead and never looked back. Which suited coach Dan Petock just fine.
“We just kept getting after it,” Petock said. “We just kept plugging away. At first I thought our bats were so-so, but we really picked it up, and just didn’t stop hitting. I didn’t expect us to score 11 runs, but I’ll take it.”
Rhees Perry kicked off the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning, followed by a two-run RBI double by Carson Tatro in the fourth. A wild pitch then allowed Tatro to cross home plate and increase the lead to four runs, and the rout was on.
After another run scored, Nicholas Cascia drove in Perry and Jordan Sansone made it 7-0 after he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Another walk and a two-run double by Sean McKinney got the score into double digits and an error got the final score onto the board.
