Marauders Begin Search For New Football Coach

St. Joe’s has begun a search for the next head coach of the school’s storied football program. Derek Landri will not be returning for a 5th year as confirmed in a phone call with the school’s Athletic Director, Brian Anken.

This past season the Marauders defeated their rival Canisius for the first time since 2011.

Despite the big win over the Crusaders, St. Joe’s was unable to reach the Monsignor Martin Championship game.

Landri compiled a 22-21 overall record during his five years as head coach. He joined the Marauders staff as an assistant under Dennis Gilbert in 2015.

This past year the Marauders program saw a decline in numbers as many other schools have. The junior varsity team forfeited at least one game and cancelled the final two contests.

The offensive coordinator was let go after seven games. We are told none of the remaining assistants will be returning either.

In 2016 St. Joe’s had 110 players listed in the program, at the beginning of 2018 they were down to 47.
