For the eighth straight season going back to the 2013-2014 campaign (and not including the 2020-2021 ‘super league’) the Newfane Panthers wrestling team captured the outright Niagara-Orleans dual meet title with another perfect 5-0 league season with a 53-9 win at Barker/Royalton-Hartland on Wednesday. The win extended the Panthers’ league win streak to 40 straight Niagara-Orleans dual wins over the eight-season span.
The WNY #1 ranked and Section VI Division II Dual Meet champions improved to 16-1 overall this season with the NYSPHSAA Dual Meet Championships looming on Saturday, January 29th in Syracuse. However, the six Niagara-Orleans member squads will meet at Albion on Saturday for the 53rd Annual Niagara-Orleans All-League Wrestling Championships to determine individual league champions and the league champion tournament team. Newfane has won all but one N-O All-League title in the last eight seasons with the exception of Akron-Alden’s team title in 2017-2018.
