Section VI Div. I dual meet champion Niagara Wheatfield (11-1) has earned the #1 seed for Saturday’s 6th Annual NYSPHSAA Dual Meet Wrestling Championships at SRC Arena in Syracuse. The Falcons will make their second straight appearance at the Duals and the fourth in program history.

Wheatfield has been seeded in all four appearances at the state duals, most recently 8th in 2023. The Falcons were the large school 7-seed in 2020 and the 2-seed in 2019.

The Falcons will take on Section III champion and returning Duals competitor 8-seed Cicero-North Syracuse and Section XI champion North Babylon on Saturday in pool duals. The winner of that pool will move on to the semifinals against the winner of Minisink Valley (IX), Hilton (V), and Yorktown (I).

Wheatfield is 3-4 all time at the state duals, most recently going 1-1 in 2023 beating Section I’s Fox Lane but falling to perennial power Minisink Valley in the pool. NW reached the Duals semifinal in their first appearance in Syracuse in 2019.

Meanwhile in Division II, Section VI champion Chautauqua Lake was awarded the 5-seed for the Eagles’ second straight trip to the state duals.

Chautauqua will take on Section VII champion Northern Adirondack and Section V champion Palmyra-Macedon in their pool matches on Saturday. The Eagles and Red Raiders met previously this season on Dec. 28th where P-M was a 36-33 winner over Chautauqua Lake at the Dick Vincent Duals in Letchworth.

Chautauqua improved to the 5-seed from the 8-seed in the 2023 tournament where they went 1-1 in pool duals falling only to eventual champion, top seeded Section IV champion Tioga, 33-24. The Eagles were impressive 49-18 winners over Section II champion Cobleskill-Richmondville in their other pool match in 2023.

The winner of Chautauqua Lake's pool will take on the winner of the pool containing Tioga, C-R, and Section VIII runner-up Island Trees.
