Niagara Wheatfield’s Warren McDougald Eclipses 200 Wins

Niagara Wheatfield senior wrestler Warren McDougald earned his 200th career victory while competing at the prestigious Eastern States Classic this weekend at Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, NY. McDougald placed 8th at 145-pounds in one of the tournament’s deepest weight classes.

Warren started on varsity as a 7th grader and is a three-time Section VI champion and two-time NYS place winner. His accomplishments make him one of the most decorated wrestlers in the history of the storied Niagara Wheatfield program, and there is still over a month of wrestling remaining. Warren is also a team captain for the Falcons.

Currently, Warren holds a season record of 26-3. He joins 2010 NYS champion and four-time NYS place winner Angelo Malvestuto as the only other Falcon 200-match winner.

“Warren is one of the most dedicated Falcons there is. He’s always about the team” stated Wheatfield head coach Rick Sweney on his senior’s accomplishment. “He’s a hard-working, good kid and I’m glad he earned that milestone.”
