The heavy hitters delivered again this week. West Seneca West, East, Starpoint, South Park and Niagara Wheatfield all continue to beat up on the rest of Class A.
West Seneca West 34, Frontier 0
The Indians posted their second shutout in three weeks when they blanked Frontier on Friday. Maurice Robertson hit Juston Johnson for a pair of scores including an 83-yard strike. John Speyer rushed for 93 yards and a couple of scores.
Niagara Wheatfield 35, Hamburg 12
The Falcons finally surrendered a point but never looked out of control. Jordan Parks is having a great season and is in the POY conversation.
Starpoint 55, Maritime 30
The Spartans are truly a dominant bunch as they proved it again vs Maritime last Friday. Aaron Chase continues to dazzle spectators, throwing for five TD’s (56, 65, 5, 19 and 8); did you know he is also the place kicker?
West Seneca East 35, Amherst 0
The Trojans don’t have long to enjoy their latest victory. Starpoint comes to town for a battle of unbeaten teams.
South Park 32, Williamsville South 7
Justin Johnson, Dabeyon Humphrey and Anthony Mack accounted for all of the scoring plays last Friday at Will South. The Sparks rebounded after a so-so performance the previous week against Maritime. South Park heads to Amherst (1-2) this Friday.
Kenmore East 38, North Tonawanda 21
The Bulldogs nailed down a win last Friday in Lumberjack Country. Danzo Young rushed 14 times and picked up 247 yards and 4 TD’s.
Grand Island 47, Sweet Home 13
Cam Sionko returned after missing a week for health reasons. The Vikings beat a quality opponent in McKinley during his absence and won again this past weekend to keep them atop the Class A-2 division. Sionko threw 3 TD’s in his return and Jeremiah Wilkes had a 22-yard pick 6. The Vikes head to NT this week.
Kenmore West 29, Jamestown 16
The Blue Devils picked up their first win of the season shocking Jamestown 29-16. Joe Stewart had three touchdowns, 2 on the ground and another was a receiving TD. Zac Boyes threw two TD passes.
Outlook:
The A-2 division is going to be a dogfight for those top 2 positions. Williamsville East and Sweet Home go at it, the Flames could put the Panthers out of it with another loss, Will East needs a win to stay in it. Same could be said for North Tonawanda should they lose to Grand Island. Kenmore East against McKinley is a big game for both as well. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of McKinley yet, too much talent on that roster.
In A-3 look no further than Starpoint at West Seneca East this week. This is a top 5 game of the week.
A-1, that’s a long bus ride for the Falcons who are heading down to Jamestown on Friday. Tough environment and coach Langworthy will get the very best out of his Red Raiders. This is no walk in the park for Niagara Wheatfield but can Jamestown stop Jordan Parks? The Falcons need to focus.
Wake us up when someone puts up a fight against West Seneca West. That team is just playing on another level.
