Section VI Media Day from Highmark

Orchard Park, NY - On Tuesday morning, dozens of high school football players and coaches assembled inside the M&T Bank Suite at Highmark Stadium, ahead of this week's Section VI championships.

Since 1979 (minus the Covid year), Rich Stadium as it was known then, now Highmark Stadium has hosted the Section VI finals. This is the last year high school football will be played here. It is not known if the new stadium across the street will be as accommodating.

The event began with light refreshments and then announcements from chairman Jay Sirianni, and speeches by former Lancaster football head coach Len Jankiewicz and Cross Training Athletics founder Mike Masters.

Players and coaches then met with local media and had an opportunity to take pictures on the turf outside, which was snow covered when teams arrived.

The Section VI finals will be played Thursday and Friday and all games will be livestreamed on the NFHS Network. Radio broadcasts will be available for the Class C and Class AA games.
