Stencel Sets New Lancaster Wrestling Program Wins Record

A win in the Class AA final on Saturday at Williamsville South earned Legends senior Ryan Stencel his fourth consecutive class title as well as the program’s all-time wins mark, which now stands at 194 career wins and was previously held by two-time NYS place winner Derek Ostrowski. Ostrowski’s program wins record has stood since 2002.

“It’s another record in a long list of accomplishments for Ryan,” said Lancaster head coach Ron Lorenz. “He will leave behind an incredible legacy by the time he is done here. While the record is nice, he is focused on winning a state title in Albany later this month.”

Stencel is a three-time NYS tournament representative, a two-time sectional champion, and a returning NYS 5th place finisher. Ryan is on the record board in every major category for the storied Legends program and will look to add one more Section VI individual title next week in his quest to become Lancaster’s first NYS champion since Joe Zito in 1986.
