WNY Athletics Boys Lacrosse Athlete Of the Week: Austin Holley

St. Joe’s junior face off specialist & midfielder Austin Holley has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Lacrosse Athlete Of the Week for Week Seven of the 2019 season (Monday, 4/29 – Saturday, 5/4).

With an offense as productive and dominate as the 2019 St. Joe’s Marauders has been, it’s easy to focus on the individual scoring and the freakish statistics that are recorded game after game.

Junior Austin Holley has been as critical to the Marauder’s offense as any of its top scorers this season. Holley has dominated the ‘X’ since Week One, helping to put the ball into the hands of the offense after far more restarts than not.

In the team’s perfect 3-0 Week Seven, Holley won thirteen of 16 face offs and picked up ten ground balls to help ‘Joe’s defeat arch rival Canisius 16-2. Against a dangerous Nichols team Austin was nearly perfect winning nineteen of 20 face offs, scooping eleven ground balls, and also contributed two assists to help the Marauders to a 15-8 win. Then on Saturday in Rochester against a very tough McQuaid Knights team, Holley helped make sure the offense had plenty of opportunities as he won fourteen of 18 face offs and recorded eleven more ground balls as St. Joe’s held on to win 10-7.
