WNY Athletics Boys Lacrosse Athlete Of the Week: Bo Johnson

Hamburg senior midfielder and face off specialist Bo Johnson has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Lacrosse Athlete Of the Week for Week Eight of the 2019 season (Monday, 5/6 – Saturday, 5/11).

As primarily a defensive midfielder, you won’t see Bo scoring a huge amount of goals like team mates Brett Chiodo, Spencer Nyhart, or Brock Schneider. However, he has been as important to the success of the Hamburg Bulldogs boy’s lacrosse team as anyone during his time on the team.

In Week Eight, Johnson helped lead the ‘Dawgs to a perfect 3-0 week including two big wins over tough Class A competition.

On Thursday against Class A leader and local rival Orchard Park, Bo won ten of 14 critical face offs to help keep the offense in control resulting in a tight 7-6 win in a battle of top local programs. Then, on Saturday against an upset minded Clarence squad, Bo was everywhere as he won ten of 17 face offs, registered fifteen ground balls, and scored one goal and assisted on another. All of this while leading the Bulldogs defense as the top short stick defensive midfielder.
