Williamsville North sophomore Conor Murphy has been selected as the WNY Athletics boys lacrosse Athlete Of the Week for Week Two of the 2019 season (Mon 3/25 – Sat 3/30).
Murphy netted twelve goals in the Spartans’ packed three-game week. Conor scored twice against a very tough Hamburg squad on Tuesday, March 26th in a loss to the defending Class B champion. Then, on Thursday, Murphy helped his team overcome a 5-2 second half deficit to a good West Seneca West team, scoring five goals and helping North to an 8-6 victory. In the Spartans’ third game last week, Murphy matched his Thursday total scoring five goals in a 12-11 overtime road loss to Section V’s Churchville-Chili.
Through two weeks of action and despite the losses, Murphy has helped keep North (2-2) competitive in the packed Class B standings in which six of the 9 teams have at least two wins so far in 2019.
