Class B quarterfinals

1-Hamburg – 8-Frontier

The Bulldogs will host West Seneca West on Thursday for their second meeting of the season in the B semis. The ‘Dawgs were 13-2 winners back on April 11th. Scoring results not submitted.

2-Williamsville North 18 – 7-Lockport 1

Thursday’s home semifinal tilt with East could be one of the must-sees of the postseason. The Spartans were winners, 14-9, over their crosstown rivals on April 30th. Scoring results not submitted.

3-Williamsville East 13 – 6-Sweet Home 6

Clayton Osborne tallied 3 goals and an assist while Joe Amici got a playoff warmup from the fiesty Panthers stopping 15 shots in net. East will meet North on Thursday to try to advance to the B final and avenge a mid-season loss to the Spartans.

5-West Seneca West 12 – 4-Niagara Wheatfield 10

Even Sherk (4 goals, 1 assist) and George Newcomb (3 goals, 2 assists) led the 5-seed Indians over the 4-seed Falcons in a quarterfinal round playoff thriller. It was the third meeting of the season between the Class B rivals with West earning the advantage in 2019, 2 games to 1. All three of the teams’ meetings this season were decided by three goals or less. The Indians will visit top seeded Hamburg on Thursday in the semifinal.

Class C quarterfinals

1-East Aurora 19 – 8-Depew 2

The Blue Devils will host Iroquois on Thursday. In their only head to head meeting with the Chiefs in 2019 East Aurora was a winner by a 12-1 margin. Scoring results not submitted.

2-West Seneca East 15 – 7-Grand Island 6

Garret Walker led the Trojans in scoring again with 5 goals on the night. Walker’s fourth score of the evening was enough to break the Trojans’ single season goals record with his 61st score of the season…as a sophomore. East will host Amherst on Thursday. In their one head to head this season the Trojans were a 17-4 winner back on April 8th.

3-Amherst 10 – 6-Lake Shore 4

Coach Stefan Henn and his Tigers have had the Eagles’ number all season, posting a perfect 3-0 record against the combined Lake Shore/Silver Creek team in 2019. The Tigers have won nine straight since back to back losses in early April against the only teams seeded above them in Class C. Scoring results not submitted.

4-Iroquois 22 – 5-Williamsville South 14

The Chiefs won a high scoring playoff game over the Billies which was good for the teams’ 10th win of the 2019 season. Scoring results not submitted.

Class D quarterfinals

4-Medina 18 – 5-Newfane 9

The Mustangs took down the Panthers who participated in their first post-season varsity action on Tuesday night. Medina will travel South to take on top seeded Salamanca in the semifinal on Thursday for their third meeting of the season. After falling 16-8 in the first week of the season, the Mustangs were able to make things a little closer on April 12th, falling 12-8. Scoring results not submitted.

3-Eden 26 – 6-Gowanda 1

The Raiders won big on Tuesday to set up a rematch at 2-seed Akron on Thursday. The Raiders already have a head to head win over the Tigers this season (14-12 back on April 8th). However, Akron has been playing strong as of late. The Eden/Akron semifinal has potential to be one of the best games of the playoffs, if not the season. Scoring results not submitted.

Salamanca 15 – McDowell (PA) 10 (non-playoffs)

The Warriors got their 12th win of the season in a pre-playoff tuneup in Erie. Keelan Seneca has been huge for Salamanca this season and was again against the Trojans scoring 5 goals and assisting on 4 more for a 9 point evening. Xavier Taylor had a huge game as well with 5 goals and 2 assists while Amos Whitcomb added 3 goals but led the team with 5 assists.
