Clarence senior Charlie Fleming has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders for the week of Monday, January 20th – Saturday, January 25th, 2025.
Charlie posted a 4-0 weekend at the ECIC Championships on Friday and Saturday on the way to the 190-pound league tournament title, his first individual championship of his career. As the 2-seed in the bracket, he earned two pins on Friday followed by an impressive major decision in the semifinal before taking down the top seed in the title match with a 10-6 decision. His efforts also helped to secure the team title for Clarence who outpaced runner up Frontier by only nine points.
Currently carrying a 33-4 season record, Charlie is truly having his best season in his final and most important one of his career. He has been a critical part of the WNY #3 Red Devils lineup this season, helping to anchor the upper weights.
According to his coaches, Charlie has undergone significant growth as a student-athlete over the past three years, especially in becoming a team leader. He is known to help lead the team both on and off the mat and carries an honor-roll level GPA and is also in National Honor Society.
