WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders: James Serrano

Sweet Home senior James Serrano has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders for the week of Monday, January 5th – Sunday, January 11th, 2026.

James went 7-0 for the surging Panthers last week, improving is own season record to 20-0 covering 150-157-pounds. On Tuesday, James won a critical match by decision against league rival and Section VI Duals 3rd place team #5 Lancaster in the unranked Panthers narrow 4-point loss to the Legends. Then on Saturday, James was a perfect 6-0 while leading the Panthers to an unbeaten 6-0 dual record to claim the team title at the Pete Rao Sr. Memorial Duals at Lewiston-Porter. The Sweet Home senior picked up crucial bonus points in all six duals with four pins and two wins by major decision.

James started wrestling as a freshman at Sweet Home. He is a team captain and shows good conduct in school. He is a balanced student-athlete carrying an honor roll GPA. James also plays football for the Panthers.
