WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by Hamburg Radiator Auto &Air: Ruger Pastwik

Eden junior Ruger Pastwik has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by Hamburg Radiator Auto & Air for the week of Friday, January 2nd – Sunday, January 4th, 2026

Ruger went a perfect 3-0 at the Section VI Duals on Saturday to help Eden capture the programs’ first sectional title and qualification to the NYS dual meet championships. Wrestling in a crucial part of Eden’s lineup covering 132 and 138-pounds, Ruger won by technical fall in all three matches picking up five match points for each win, team bonus points that were absolutely critical in all three of the Raiders’ victories.

So far this season Ruger is 16-9 and a key piece for the WNY #2 ranked small school and Section VI Duals champion team.

According to his coaches, Ruger is a hard worker and started as a youth wrestler. In 2024 he was a Class C/D finalist and in 2025 he fell just short of a podium finish at the Section VI individual championships so one of his goals for this season is a sectional place finish. His coaches note that Ruger is a solid student-athlete with strong grades and is respectful in school. Ruger also participates in soccer and can often be found in the gym getting stronger. Outside of school Ruger volunteers time with the team helping to park cars and clean up at the annual Eden Corn Festival.
