WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by Sign Gypsies WNY: Trevor DellaPenta

Eden junior Trevor DellaPenta has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by Sign Gypsies WNY for the week of Monday, December 16th – Saturday, December 21st, 2024.

Trevor posted a perfect 7-0 record last week to help the #5 small school Raiders to a league dual win on Wednesday followed by a 6-0 performance at the rugged Linda Knuutila Memorial Tournament to capture the 131-pound title on Friday and Saturday.

Trevor is a big part of the Eden lineup that is 2-0 in ECIC III and 6-4 overall at the break. So far this season, Trevor is 16-1 with five pins, nine tech falls, and not a single forfeit taken. At SUNY Niagara over the weekend, Trevor earned five techs in his six wins. In the quarterfinal, Trevor was a 6-0 decision winner over a two-time state tournament qualifier. In the semifinal, Trevor picked up another impressive tech over a NYS finalist and returning 3rd place winner. In the final, Trevor didn’t concede a point for a third straight match as he cruised to another tech fall over a three-time NYS place winner.

Trevor was a Section VI finalist in 2023 and 2024 and placed 8th in NYS in 2023.

According to his coaches, Trevor is humble, hardworking, and an excellent student-athlete who also carries a strong grade point average while competing at a high level. His coaches add that Trevor is self motivated and goal oriented with a high wrestling IQ and that his friendly, courteous demeanor makes him a leader both on and off the mat.
