WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders: Maliyah Stone

Cassadaga Valley freshman Maliyah Stone has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders for the weekend of Saturday, December 27th – Tuesday, December 30th, 2025.

Maliyah had a breakout performance on Saturday at the Eden Girls Round Robin Tournament going 3-0 on the day to claim the 100-pound tournament title. Maliyah earned two first period pins before an impressive 10-0 technical superiority for 1st place over a returning Section VI finalist. The head to head victory was important for the team score as well as the Golden Cougars finished in 4th place only a half point ahead of Maliyah’s opponents’ team in the final tally, 136 to 135.5-points.

Maliyah wrestled modified in 7th and 8th grades before joining the first official Falconer/Cassadaga Valley girls’ freestyle team this season.

According to her coaches, Maliyah is a well-rounded student-athlete balancing good grades and activities in school while participating in four sports – wrestling, volleyball, cheerleading, and softball. She arrives for practice with a good attitude, works hard, and is respectful in school.
