Orchard Park freshman Olivia Phillips has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders for the week of Monday, February 10th – Sunday, February 16th, 2025.
Olivia claimed the Section VI 120-pound title on Friday at Sweet Home to advance to automatically qualify for the first NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships in Albany.
As the 3-seed in the bracket, Olivia reached the final going 3-0 with a first period pin over the 2-seed in the semifinal. In the title match against the upset minded 5-seed who took down the 4 and 1-seeds on the way to the final, Olivia earned an impressive win by technical superiority, 10-0, to capture the 120-pound championship. Olivia was the only non-number one seed to become one of the first thirteen Section VI Girls Championships winners. Olivia carries an impressive 34-2 record into the state tournament after her first season wrestling at the varsity level.
According to her coaches, Olivia is a multi-talented student athlete who carries honors level grades in schools and is a very avid reader outside of the classroom. She also participates in track & field and is active in the Ukrainian American Youth Association.
