WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Hamburg Radiator Auto & Air: Ava Bragg
Lockport senior Ava Bragg has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Hamburg Radiator Auto & Air for the week of Monday, January 12th – Sunday, January 18th, 2026.
Ava added another solid week to her season resume with a 5-0 performance. On Wednesday Ava earned a win to help the Lions cruise past CSAT in a girls’ freestyle dual meet. Then on Friday, Ava went 4-0 in a strong 235-pound Lockport Girls Invitational bracket in the home gym. Ava earned pins in the first two rounds of the tournament to reach the semifinal. In the semifinal, Ava toughed out a 5-4 decision win over a returning Section VI place winner. Then in the final, she earned a first period pin over a returning NYS tournament qualifier to claim the title. Ava is currently 22-1 this season.
Ava is a three year varsity athlete at Lockport and also participates in soccer and lacrosse. Her coaches note that she has a true passion for wrestling and that her character and sportsmanship on and off the mat are beyond reproach. As a teammate, her coaches note that she is a leader and cares for her fellow Lions in both well being and learning the sport. Ava is in her second year of learning nursing at BOCES.
