WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Hamburg Radiator Auto & Air: Kaitlyn Mieczkowski

Sweet Home freshman Kaitlyn Mieczkowski has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Hamburg Radiator Auto & Air for the week of Friday, January 2nd – Sunday, January 4th, 2026.

Kaitlyn wrestled to a 1st place finish on Saturday at the Chautauqua Lake Girls Invitational in impressive fashion. She earned two wins by technical superiority in the championship rounds without conceding a single point in those bouts. In the title match she earned a 12-2 victory by technical superiority to claim the 120-pound title which also helped Sweet Home to a top-5 team finish in the final standings.

So far this season Kaitlyn is 11-3 with top-3 place finishes at Alexander and SUNY Niagara. She is also a returning 3rd place winner from the 2025 Section VI championships.

According to her coaches, Kaitlyn is only in her third year of wrestling but proves to them that she truly loves the sport and is always improving. Her coaches also note that she wrestles hard in every match and has a good attitude. Kaitlyn is a three sport student-athlete at Sweet Home also playing soccer and flag football which is helping her academically as her grades continue to improve in the classroom.
