WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Petruzzi Insurance Agency: Lilly Hyde

Panama freshman Lilly Hyde has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Petruzzi Insurance Agency for the week of Monday, January 13th – Sunday, January 19th, 2025.

Lilly had a dominant week for the Eagles who made the long trip to Niagara County twice, returning home with two big victories.

On Tuesday, Lilly and the #3 Eagles took on the #2 Niagara Wheatfield Falcons at SUNY Niagara perhaps WNY’s first ever #NOFORFEITS all-girls dual meet. Lilly earned a crucial pin at 152-pounds to help lead Chautauqua Lake to an impressive 42-21 victory.

Then on Friday, Lilly dominated the 152-pound bracket at the Lockport Invitational on the way to the championship. Lilly earned technical superiorities in the quarter and semifinals before a first period pin in the title match, ultimately helping the Eagles to the tournament team title as well.

According to her coaches, Lilly is a hard worker who truly earns all of her accolades & successes. She is rounding into a true-student athlete as she carries an honor roll GPA while starring for the Chautauqua Lake wrestling and Panama volleyball teams.
