WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Sign Gypsies WNY: Aislyn O'Malley

Kenmore West junior Aislyn O’Malley has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Sign Gypsies WNY for the week of Monday, December 16th – Saturday, December 21st, 2024.

Aislyn went a perfect 4-0 at the Linda Knuutila Memorial Tournament on Saturday to capture the 235-pound title. She earned three pins in the championship bracket on the way to the final including a semifinal pin over a fellow returning NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Invitational competitor. In the title match, O’Malley was a 9-4 decision winner to take home first place.

Just as impressive as her wrestling is Aislyn’s school and extracurricular work. According to her coaches, Aislyn is a straight A student taking advanced placement and even SUNY level courses. As one of the first girls to step forward to sign up for wrestling, she is considered a ‘pioneer’ in the district for the girls’ wrestling team. Her coaches said “She’s selfless, puts others above herself, and is willing to help new wrestlers in the room.”

On top of being a high level student-athlete, Aislyn also volunteers her time at the Ken-Ton Closet helping them to achieve their mission of improving the quality of life for needy children in the Kenmore/Town of Tonawanda area by providing all kinds of materials at no cost.
