WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week: Carson Alberti

Depew sophomore Carson Alberti has been selected as the Section VI Division II G&G Fitness WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the twelfth week of the 2019-2020 season (Monday, February 10th – Sunday, February 16th).

Alberti claimed his second consecutive Section VI individual title on Saturday going 3-0 on the day with two pins and a 6-4 overtime win in the 120-pound championship match and in doing so avenged a loss from the Class B final. Carson is currently 40-2 overall this season heading into the NYS tournament.

Carson sets the pace for his teammates in the practice room perfecting his moves, technique, and fundamentals both during the season and in the off season. Alberti is known to be relatively quiet, however his explosiveness on the mat is rarely matched. His coaches characterize him as a fast learner who holds high grades in the classroom and often helps teach newer wrestlers. As a student of the game, Carson engages not only his own coaches but other coaches and wrestling leaders as well in a respectful, mature, and polite manner.
