WNY Athletics Wrestler Of the Week: Daniel Kirsch

Pioneer freshman Daniel Kirsch has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler Of the Week for Week 8 of the 2018-2019 season (1/14-1/19/2019).

Kirsch earned a fall in last Wednesday’s dual against Amherst to help lead the Panthers over the Tigers and seal Pioneer’s sixth straight league title and undefeated season in ECIC action.

Kirsch currently holds a season record of 32-3. He went 7-0 in ECIC II dual meets this season as a freshman and has wrestled matches at 113, 120, and 126-pounds. Dan won the ECIC 113-pound title in December and major decisioned and pinned his way to 1stplace at 113 at the two-day Robert Bradshaw Invitational at Canandaigua. Kirsch went 10-0 at the Dick Vincent Duals at Letchworth and has won twenty-five straight matches since his last loss on December 7th.

“Dan is a great kid and absolutely one of the hardest workers I have had in twenty years of coaching,” stated Pioneer head coach Chris Edwards. “He outworks people…he is always looking to score.”
