Southwestern junior Garrett Swan has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the eleventh week of the 2019-2020 season (Tuesday, February 4th – Saturday, February 8th).
Swan claimed his second straight Class C/D title on Saturday storming past his first three opponents with three straight pins on the way to the final. Garrett defended his top seed in the 126-pound weight class with a 7-4 victory over Falconer’s 2-seed Joey Pillittieri in the championship bout. Swan (32-9 record) finished 5th in Section VI Division II in 2018-2019 and recently achieved his 100th career win. The Trojans junior will be the 3-seed in the bracket for Saturday’s Section VI championships.
Garrett is highly regarded as a student-athlete at Southwestern as his hard-working attitude also translates into the classroom. Swan has already been a two-year captain of the wrestling team and is a two way starter on the Section VI Class C champion football team.
