Lewiston-Porter senior Gwyneth Edwards has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the week of Monday, February 13th – Saturday, February 18th, 2023.
Edwards captured the 4th Annual Intersectional Girls Wrestling Championships 138-pound title on Saturday with a first period pin in the championship match. Edwards finishes her outstanding high school career as a four-time place winner in the Intersectional tournament.
According to her coaches, Gwyneth is an example student-athlete who balances a high grade point average with athletics & participation in the arts. Gwyneth’s coaches say that she displays strong characteristics in her work ethic, dedication, sportsmanship, kindness, and enthusiasm.
Gwyneth and her twin sister Meghan will both attend John Carroll University this fall and wrestle on the very first JCU Blue Streaks women’s wrestling team under head coach Autumn Gordon.
