WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week: Jake Jozwiak

Iroquois senior Jake Jozwiak has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the fifth week of the 2019-2020 season (Friday, 12/27 – Saturday, 12/28).

Jozwiak went a perfect 5-0 with five crucial pins on Saturday to help lead the Chiefs to the Grand Island Duals team title, in the process defeating five other ranked squads including WNY #3 Fredonia and NYS ranked #7 large school Brockport (V).

Currently with a 21-3 record, Jozwiak has a been a big part of the powerful lowerweights group for the #2 Chiefs who are now 17-2 overall and the 2-seed for Saturday’s Section VI Division II Dual Meet Championships.

Jake placed 4th in the individual state qualifier last winter and has been a part of the Chiefs lineup for the last three seasons. Jozwiak’s coaches characterize him as one who displays good sportsmanship in both victory and defeat as well.
