WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week: Joey Pillittieri

Falconer junior Joey Pillittieri has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the third week of the 2019-2020 season (Monday, 12/9 – Saturday, 12/14).

Pillittieri went a perfect 7-0 at the rugged Pioneer Duals to help the Golden Falcons to the team title and remain at the top of the small school ranking in WNY for three straight weeks to start the season. Currently, Pillittieri has a season record of 14-1. He’s a rising leader among his teammates and is academically solid as well. When it comes to Joey’s personality, you can be sure to get a courteous handshake from a pleasant young man.

Pillittieri had a strong end to the season in 2018-2019, making the Class C/D final at 126-pounds. After a busy offseason, he’s a main piece in the Golden Falcons lineup. According to Falconer head coach Drew Wilcox, Joey doesn’t miss practices or workouts during the season or in the offseason. For example, last summer Pillittieri attended an offseason practice on his birthday and even put in an extra hour on top of that with assistant coach Kevin Strong.
