Springville-Griffith Institute senior Nick Brown has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the week of Monday, February 7th to Sunday, February 13th, 2022.
Brown captured the Section VI Division II 160-pound title on Saturday at Jamestown Community College going 3-0 on the day including a second period pin in the final. Following a runner-up performance in 2021, Brown claimed his first sectional title while eclipsing the 30-win mark this season. Brown was a big part of the Griffins’ 2nd place finish in the ECIC III division and helped the team to double digit wins in 2021-2022 for the first time in a number of years.
Nick’s coaches describe him as humble, the hardest worker in the room, and everything a coach can ask for in a student-athlete. Nick is known to be quiet but take initiative to help teammates in the practice room and is a morning regular in the weight room before school.
