Grand Island freshman Cole Randle has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week presented by the SonShine Charitable Fund for the week of Monday, December 18th – Friday, December 22nd, 2023.
This week, Cole was a big part of the Vikings’ 34-33 win over Niagara Frontier League rival #6 North Tonawanda, earning a crucial bonus team point with a 10-2 major decision victory at 101-pounds.
Cole has been key in the early season success of the #7 ranked WNY large school Vikings in the first four weeks of the 2023-2024 season. Randle started the season on an 11-0 run and currently sits at 15-5 covering 101 and 108-pounds for Grand Island.
Although it is his first year in high school, Cole’s coaches say he is already a good representative student-athlete balancing strong academics with participation in athletics.

The mission of the SonShine Charitable Fund is to financially assist families who have experienced the death of a child by offering monetary grants to help with some portion of funeral costs. The Fund covers all eight counties of WNY and the four most north western counties of Pennsylvania.
