WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week: Ryan Forrest

Hamburg senior Ryan Forrest has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the fourth week of the 2019-2020 season (Monday, 12/16 – Saturday, 12/21).

Forrest went 5-0 over the course of two days at the 1st Annual Linda Knuutila Memorial Wrestling Tournament to claim the 138-pound title. In those matches, Forrest earned two pins, a tech fall, and decision wins over a Section VI champion and another place winner, respectively.

Currently 19-0 this season, Forrest is a key piece for the #5 Bulldogs (1-0 ECIC I, 12-2 overall) and has been in the lineup since the 2015-2016 season. In each year that Forrest has been on the team, the Bulldogs have finished top three in ECIC I. Ryan is a three time Class A and Section VI place winner and represented WNY in Albany at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships as a wildcard entry last February. Forrest is a team captain and maintains a GPA over 90, and is an avid off-season wrestler as a member of Lake Erie Wrestling Club.
