Monday, April 1st
Williamsville East 9 – East Aurora 5
East won a battle of unbeatens on the road. The Flames improved to 5-0 with the win while the Blue Devils dropped to 3-1. Jordan Polk netted 3 goals and added an assist in the win. Dom Picillo and Ryan Mitchell each added 2 goals and 1 assist. Joe Amici had another solid night in net making 17 saves for the Flames.

Tuesday, April 2nd
Williamsville East 6 – West Seneca West 4
The ‘red hot’ Flames improved to 6-0 in 2019 with a home win over a West squad (2-3) that to this point has seen Williamsville North, Orchard Park, and Williamsville East all within the last six days. Clayton Osborne paced the Flames again with 3 goals and 2 assists. Dom Piccillo added 2 goals and tacked on 1 assist. Joe Amici had another terrific outing with 9 saves in net. Ben Morakis and Parker Vernator led a Flames defense that continues to improve week to week. Up next for East is a home tilt with Frontier on Thursday. West is at Lockport on Thursday 4/4.
Orchard Park 14 – Lancaster 9
The Quakers got revenge on the Legends in a rematch of the 2018 Section VI Class A final in the first of two regular season meetings between the squads. Orchard Park improves to 4-0 this spring while Lancaster falls to 2-2 overall. Jacob Shul led the Quakers with 5 goals and an assist. Carter Korzenski and Andrew Relosky each netted 3 scores, Tom Callaghan added 2 goals, and Max Streety scored once for OP. Korzenski, Streety, and Bryson Miller each recorded 2 assists. The next Orchard Park vs. Lancaster game is already less than two weeks away.
Hamburg 17 – Sweet Home 3
The relentless Bulldogs offensive attack was on display again on Tuesday. Brett Chiodo led the ‘Dawgs with 5 goals while Brock Schneider scored 4 times and added an assist. Bo Johnson found the net once, recorded an assist, and picked up 11 ground balls. Hamburg (3-0) has scored 18, 23, and 17 goals in each of its first three games. Sweet Home dropped to 3-2 overall and will host Niagara Wheatfield on Thursday in a critical Class B showdown.
Williamsville North 10 – Frontier 2
Conor Murphy carried his furious Week Two scoring pace into Week Three, netting 6 goals against the Falcons on Tuesday. Brian Patterson and Juan Antonetty added 2 goals each in the win to help North improve to 3-2 overall. The Spartans host Clarence on Thursday while Frontier (0-3) has to pay a visit to the undefeated Williamsville East Flames.
Lockport 16 – North Tonawanda 7
The Lions earned their first win of the season with a road win at North Tonawanda. Owen Fogle led the Lions with 8 total points, netting 3 goals and notching 5 assists. Ian Rickard added 4 goals and an assist as well. Oliver Hammond made 8 saves in net for Lockport.
Salamanca 13 – Newfane 6
Newfane’s first ever varsity level boys lacrosse game ended in a loss to a perennially strong Warriors team at home. Salamanca improved to 3-0 with the win.
St. Joe’s 14 – Canisius 9
The Marauders kicked off the league schedule with a win against their archrival. Seven different players scored for St. Joe’s, led by Trey Gehen, Ryan McGorry, and Evan Mulderig who each netted 3 goal hat tricks. Kellen Pulera notched 3 assists and also 1 goal for ‘Joe’s (2-0).
St. Francis 9 – Bishop Timon 7
The Red Raiders improved to 2-0 and beat a quality Timon squad behind 4 goals from Jack Kernitz, 3 scores from Lyndon Sullivan, and a score each from Andrew Brokx and Josh Quinn. Timon hosts Canisius on Thursday.

Wednesday, April 3rd
Salamanca 14 – Akron 12
The Tigers led 4-3 at the end of the first quarter, but Salamanca led at the end of the second, third, and ultimately the end of the game to take down the defending Class D champions. This was the first of three regular season meetings between the squads. Amos Whitcomb paced the Warriors with 7 goals and 4 assists. Keelan Seneca tallied 4 goals and 5 assists for Salamanca who improved to 4-0.
Amherst 12 – Lake Shore/Silver Creek 8
Amherst got over the .500 hump improving to 3-2 after an 0-2 start in taking down the previously undefeated Eagles (3-1). Up next for Amherst is a home tilt with a tough East Aurora squad. Lake Shore hosts Grand Island on Friday evening.
East Aurora 5 – Eden 4
After beating the defending Class C champion West Seneca East Trojans on Friday the 29th, East Aurora took on the 2018 Class B runner-up Flames on Monday and then the returning Class C finalist Eden Raiders on Wednesday. In those games the Blue Devils went 2-1 and at this point should be considered a serious contender for the Class C sectional crown later this spring. Cal Klube led the Devils with 4 scores against Eden (2-2). Up next for East Aurora (4-1) is a visit to Amherst, who knocked off Lake Shore earlier Wednesday evening.
Williamsville South 14 – Lewiston-Porter 5
South improved to 3-2 following a five-day break in competition. Ben Carey led the Billies with 5 goals and 2 assists. Grayson Gare almost matched Carey’s totals with 4 goals and 2 assists. Max Evans won 18 faceoffs and also tallied 6 points in the game with 2 goals and 4 assists.
West Seneca East 16 – Grand Island 3
East (1-2) got into the win column with a road win. The Trojans’ first five games of the season are all road contests. Garret Walker led all East scorers with 5 goals. Shaun Dolac, Colin Schmatz, Zach Arnone, Tyler Arndt, and Brady Frys all scored 2 goals each. Up next for East is a road contest at Amherst.
Kenmore 8 – Batavia (V) 0
Kenmore closed out their week with a win against the visiting Section V squad. Seamus McPhee scored 4 goals for the home team. Frank DiGennaro, Alex Ghosen, Mark Lopez, and PJ Abbott all contributed a score for Kenmore (3-2).
St. Francis 15 – Cathedral Prep (PA) 1
Nine different players scored for the Raiders who improved to 3-0 on the season. Jaxon Mohawk scored 4 goals. Lyndon Sullivan, Ty Webb, and Colton Evoniuk all found the net twice each. Jack Kernitz, Matt Murphy, Josh Cooke, Alec Dobinski, and Zach Brydalski all scored for St. Francis. The Raiders meet Canisius on Monday.
Orchard Park 20 – Gowanda 1
The Quakers improve to 5-0 with a road contest at Niagara Wheatfield on Saturday. Enrollment comparison: Orchard Park 2018-2019 BEDS: 1144. Gowanda, 276.
