WNY Boys Lacrosse Roundup: Thurs 3/28 – Sat 3/30

Section VI boys lacrosse results and highlights from Week Two games played Thursday, March 28th – Saturday, March 30th.

Thursday, March 28th

Hamburg 23 – Lockport 1

Spencer Nyhart scored his second hat trick of the week posting 4 goals and an assist in the ‘Dawgs home opener. Brett Chiodo (1 assist) and Devin Collins (2 assists) both recorded 3 goal ‘hatty’s.’

Williamsville North 8 – West Seneca West 6

Conor Murphy led the Spartans over a tough West squad with 5 goals. Brian Patterson notched 2 scores and Tyler Zeplowitz 1 for North who improved to 2-1. Tate Coleville made 18 saves in net for the Spartans, who overcame a 5-2 second half deficit to win. The Indians’ Mike Flury was solid on the faceoff taking 17 of 18 in the contest.

Williamsville East 16 – North Tonawanda 3

The Flames improved to 4-0 after two weeks of action.

Niagara Wheatfield 13 – Frontier 4

Chase Chapman led with 6 goals and JT Hamby went 10 for 16 on the faceoff for the Falcons who improved to 2-1.

Sweet Home 9 – City Honors 5

Bishop Timon 16 – Kenmore 2

Friday, March 29th

East Aurora 15 – West Seneca East 8

The Blue Devils improved to 3-0 and sit atop the Class C standings at the end of Week Two. The Trojans fell to 0-2 but have played very tough squads in East Aurora and Penfield (V) so far. Calvin Klube led all scorers with 5 goals. Connor Boss netted 3 while Tage Hoeg and Jack Rogers netted 2 each for East Aurora. Brock Roldan, Mitch Pastor, and Drew Kenney added a score each for EA. Shaun Dolac, Tyler Arndt, Garret Walker, and Colin Schmatz recorded 2 goals each for East.

Akron 24 – Wilson 1

Dylan Nicometi netted 7 goals and 3 assists against the Lakemen. The Tigers (2-0) have outscored their first two opponents in 2019, 51-5.

Lancaster 9 – Eden 6

It took a fourth quarter comeback for the Legends to defeat a tough Raiders squad. Give credit to the Eden team hanging with the defending Class A champs that has over 1,000 more students in its high school (2018-19 BEDS: Eden 317, Lancaster 1373).

Lewiston-Porter 7 – Depew 5

Jack Evert scored 4 goals while Daniel Gambino notched the other 3 to help the Lancers to their first win of the season.

Grand Island 9 – Kenmore 3

Kenmore goals were scored by Dan Rumschik, Austin Collura, and Papouch Schmoyer.

Amherst 10 – Iroquois 8

Andrew Johnson led with 4 goals, Jack Faller netted 3, Eli Dunkle 2, and Ryan Bitka scored 1 for the Tigers. Amherst has now won its last two games after an 0-2 start.

Lake Shore/Silver Creek 11 – Williamsville South 8

The Eagles improved to 2-0 in a matchup of Class C rivals. Ben Carey led South with 5 goals and Grayson Gare contributed 3 assists. Mitch Kiebala made 16 saves in net for the Billies who fall to 2-2.

Salamanca 19 – Gowanda 5

The Warriors improved to 2-0.

Saturday, March 30th

Orchard Park 14 – West Seneca West 5

The Quakers improved to 3-0 with a quality win over a good Indians squad. Andrew Relosky led Orchard Park with 4 goals. Jake Shul netted 3, and Quinn O’Brien and Cayden Collins scored a pair of goals each. Bryson Miller, Carter Korzenski, and Jack Neeson each scored 1 goal for the Quakers. Next up for OP is a road matchup with the defending Class A champ Lancaster on Tuesday.

Churchville-Chili (V) 12 – Williamsville North 11 (OT)

North traveled across sectional lines for a matchup with the Saints, falling in OT. Conor Murphy scored 5 goals for the second time this week. Juan Antonetty netted 2 goals and notched 1 assist. Taylor Zeplowitz, Brian Patterson, Josh Dziama, and Owen Cooney all found the net once each for the Spartans who fell to 2-2.

City Honors 10 – East Rochester (V) 3

The City Honors/combined Buffalo Public School team notched a road win in Rochester. Gage Smith led the Centaurs with 3 scores. Jake Wisniewski and Assa Al Sultani each netted 2 while Henry Battaglia and Timothy Moorhouse scored 1 goal apiece. After two weeks of action the Centaurs are 2-2.

Medina 9 – Newark (V) 8

The Mustangs got their first win with a road victory against the Reds. Mitchell Silversmith netted 4 goals while Jacob McEwan netted 2 for Medina. Christian Silversmith, Cayden Lilleby, and Chaise Prest all added a score.

Webster Thomas (V) 17 – Clarence 5
